Recently, the 2014 society of Automotive Engineers Symposium on efficient internal combustion engines was successfully concluded in Detroit, USA from April 6 to 7, 2014. At the conference of the society of automotive engineers on efficient internal combustion engines, the most eye-catching EGR car was designed by the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI). The Regal (2012) Regal was used as a research vehicle in southwest Regal. As shown in the figure, this 2012 Buick Regal GS body is covered with colorful decals, which is very eye-catching in appearance, and its internal core power configuration is more powerful. It adopts advanced combustion system, and its fuel efficiency has been greatly improved, and exhaust emissions are also greatly reduced. Among them, the advanced combustion system is researched and designed by Southwest Research Institute, and it has been purchased and planned to be put into production by a large European automobile manufacturer.

This time, the advanced combustion system researched and designed by Southwest Research Institute adopts a 2.0-liter d-egr engine. The engine is a four cylinder engine, in which only a single cylinder is used to participate in the EGR process, so as to improve the EGR process and the recycling process of hydrogen and carbon monoxide mixture. According to Dr. Terry Alger, deputy director of the Southwest Research Institute, the d-egr engine has a braking thermal efficiency of 42% in the zero load to full load test.

Dr. Terry Alger, deputy director of Southwest Research Institute, and Chris Chadwell, SI Engine Research Manager of Southwest Research Institute, respectively introduced the progress made by their research groups in natural gas engine and engine advanced technology at the fourth annual meeting of American Society of automotive engineers. The aame annual meeting was held at the Westin Book Cadillac hotel in Detroit. Terry Alger, Chris Chadwell and their colleagues Jacob zuehl and Raphael gukelberger of the Southwest Research Institute of the United States jointly published a technical paper entitled "a demonstration of determined EGR on a 2.0 l GDI engine".
